The velocity of a dollar

Wealth grows when it stays in the neighborhood.

Illustration of a dollar circulating among Black-owned storefronts in a valley community

A dollar spent in many communities recirculates again and again before it leaves. In Black communities, studies have found it often leaves almost immediately. That gap is not about effort. It is about visibility and connection between the businesses already here.

When we can find each other, we can buy from each other. That is how the dollar stays, and the community grows.

This directory is the local fix. 272 verified Black-owned businesses across 25 Lehigh Valley communities, in one place, searchable and shareable, maintained by the African American Business Leaders Council of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.
